ABOUT US

It all starts with an idea. How could we provide leadership in agricultural preservation, serve our community, and retell the hidden stories and absent narratives of the people that lived on and worked this land?

Start the Farm Heritage Conservancy, of course!

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the agricultural, historical, and educational heritage of Southern Maryland.

REMEMBERED BY THE WIND

In 2012, a massive storm roared across the United States from Iowa to the Chesapeake Bay leaving a swath of destruction. On Serenity Farm, the storm uprooted an enormous Oak tree leaving a massive hole -- resulting in an archaeological discovery and the beginning of a forensic quest by the farm owners, a team of experts, and the local African American community.
